Amazon has quickly slashed the price of the latest Pokémon TCG expansion just one week after release. Right now, you can snag a Chaos Rising ETB from Amazon for $102.99, slicing 14% off its original Amazon list price of $119.99.
The price isn’t as low as the $91 market value at trusted marketplace TCGplayer, and certainly isn’t as low as the $59.99 MSRP from Pokémon Center US, but it’s surprising how quickly this expansion dropped in price after launch. On release day, Chaos Rising ETBs sold for about $155.
Now, just a week later, the price has dropped to $102.99, showing how fast the market is changing. If you want to get Chaos Rising, this Amazon ETB deal is a reliable way to buy the newest expansion, especially if you've got some gift cards saved up or want speedy delivery with Prime.
If you’re looking for a cheaper option, there isn’t really one online right now.
On TCGPlayer, the price is $99.95, but a whopping $34.99 shipping fee brings the total to $134.94 before taxes. Meanwhile, Best Buy is holding firm at $149.00. That’s a hard sell, which is likely why it’s still in stock when other stores have lower prices.
Walmart offers it for $109.88 with shipping included, which isn’t bad, but is still higher than Amazon at the time of writing. It’s worth noting that there’s a $100 listing from a third-party seller on Walmart with a 4.1/5 rating, but many collectors avoid unknown sellers due to risks such as slow shipping or tampered boxes. If you choose a third-party seller, you’ll need to think about shipping costs and whether you trust them. Buying directly from a usually reputable seller like Amazon is worth it for the peace of mind.
Amazon’s price is $102.99, with delivery as soon as June 5. Buying directly from Amazon helps you avoid surprise fees that sometimes come with marketplace sellers.
If you have a local card shop, check there first to see if you can find a better deal. But if you shop online, this Amazon price offers a fair, hassle-free transaction.
As for what you get in the Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Chaos Rising Elite Trainer Box, expect the standard fare we all know and love by this point. Say it with me!
Each box contains 9 Chaos Rising booster packs to expand your deck, a full-art foil promo card for your collection, and 65 card sleeves to keep your cards protected. You also get 40 Pokémon TCG Energy cards to power your strategies, a player’s guide to help you navigate the new expansion, a competition-legal coin-flip die, 6 damage-counter dice for smooth gameplay, and (best of all) a plastic coin. All items come stored in a collector’s box with six dividers for easy organization, and you receive a code card to unlock the digital experience on Pokémon Trading Card Game Live. Neat!
Chaos Rising is a really fun expansion for collectors. According to data from TCGTalks, 42.3% of packs had an ex or better, and full arts appeared in approximately 8.3% of packs, or roughly 2–3 per box. It’s a lot more manageable than the mammoth (Mamoswine?) expansion that was Ascended Heroes - Ascended Heroes had 295 standard cards, while Chaos Rising is significantly smaller, featuring only 122 standard cards.
If you don't love Mega Greninja, Pitch Black is coming soon. Some pre-orders are already on TCGPlayer, but your best option is to keep checking the Pokémon Center official store for updates. Pre-orders usually open about 78 days before release, but Chaos Rising only opened 39 days before launch, making it the latest set to do so in Pokémon TCG history. No one knows exactly when Pitch Black pre-orders will open on TCGPlayer or Pokémon Center, so keep an eye out for updates.
